Help please on newly aquired second hand giant , wheels are old wolber GTA 622 700cc, tyres are 22 622 "CST SUPER HP" although the tyres have pumped up fine I think I should probably replace them, bit confused as what size I need as nothing quite matches in my searches so far, size and winter riding reccommendations gratefullly accepted, off for a bath now as just done 12 miles and it's bloody cold out there!

The 622 bit means they are bog standard road bike 700c size.
The 22 is 22mm wide. A more common version would be 23mm, this is pretty much the standard racing width.

For winter riding, any people prefer a wider tyre, you can run them at lower pressure for better grip and they can absorb pothole damage better. Most road bikes have clearance to fit 25mm width. You may be able to fit some 28mm (these vary a lot is actual width).

    You should look for
    23mm x700c
    25mm x700c
    possibly some 28mm x700c
  • if you don't know then please share some other sites i could go to, tried sjs cycles etc but not the info i need

try these guys - http://www.highonbikes.com/wheels-tyres/tyres-road.html very helpful, prices good and service speed is brilliant
  • How about these ? Not expensive and good spec tyres.. I'd go for 25mm but check that you've got sufficient clearance (you need 3 mm more).

MichaelW answered your question perfectly - what else do you actually want?? :?
  • But MichaelW gave a bit of a muddled reply because the 22mm etc refers to diameter not width and the limiting factor is clearance between the top of the tyre and the underside of the fork crown. This means that all 28mm tyres will be the same height and all will either fit or not, with the obvious exception that tyres my be incorrectly described by th emanufacturer although I doubt that you'd find this info on any website.
