Skullcap or Buff?

With the weather taking a decidedly colder turn, especially on evening rides, I'm thinking of getting something to wear under my helmet to keep my head warm. My nice this wooly hat (not actually wool in fact) is WAY too hot under the helmet and does not wick well!
I'm thinking either a skullcap or a buff, but not sure which would be better. I like the buff idea as it can be used in many different ways, but am worried that it won't be warm enough in place of a skull cap, but I have never tried either
Opinions/experiences?
Cheers.

Buff - or a merino wool buff when it is really cold.0

i bought an endura multi tube for this reason. its like a Buff, but half the price.
i just got back from a ride and it works well, not too thick so you get sweaty, but just enough to get rid of the wind chill and keep your ears warm0 -

I'm not normally one to complain about prices but £18 for a wooly hat :shock:0 -

Earwarmer headband for me.Smarter than the average bear.0

Just dug out the ear warmers last night. Will combine with the buff around neck and chin during early part of tonight's ride and should be plenty warm enough.___________________________

OK, sounds like generally then a Buff (or cheaper copy) would suit then. I have pretty dense hair, despite my 43 years so don't need massive help, just keeping the wind off mostly.
Shame I didn't think about this when I had my 10% loyalty discount with CRC :roll:0 -
Skullcap, and a buff round my neck. At the end of the ride the soaking wet skullcap is removed and the buff gets pulled up on head pirate style.Northwind wrote: It's like I covered it in superglue and rode it through ebay.0

So, is it worth paying £10.99 for a "real" Buff, or are the £6.99 Endura Multitube ones just as good?0

Depends on the temperature and wind.
Buff when its cold and windproof skullcap when its very cold.
Neither are expensive so I would suggest buying both.

Buff all the way as you can turn into anything, a hat, a broach, a pterodactyl.0

Well, that's easy, CRC no stock of any Buffs apart from the Combi Thermal one, so I guess it is the Endura one then.0

Wiggle have buffs too, the dhb one is good if you rally want to splash out.Smarter than the average bear.0

the Endura ones are fine. the patterns are a bit rubbish though0

I've bought a multipack 3buffs in TKMaxx for £10. And compared to MBR freebie buff they are classes apart in quality. What could have been (Video)
