I run Tektro 720s with Kool Stop mixed compound and they work a treat.

I put Kool Stop pads on my front and they transformed the brakes. Mind you, I put Fibrax pads on the back (a little cheaper) and they had the same effect. Why not try new pads and, if they don't do the job for you, get new brakes: you'll still have the pads as spares!

Good shout. I'll get new pads, if no joy, I'll get some nice new Avid shorties, possible the 4s, I'm not looking to break the bank :P

    Cheers for the advice!

PS - can anyone link me up with a good deal on pads? It's a minefield out there...

    I got these:

and these (think it was the ASH 750 pack):

Couldn't really tell much difference between the two: both excellent. The Fibrax pads are cheaper plus you get a spare set of inserts when you buy the holder. If I had to choose then I suspect the kool-stops just edge it slightly when it comes to stopping power.

Just bought 2 sets of the Fibrax ASH750 on ebay for £12 posted. Bargain with spare inserts.

    Can't argue with that!
