In this sort of case, I look to my gears with a brush to get the worst out, and then a cloth to wipe the rest off.
A bit of gt85/wd40 and wipe clean to force out any nasty water, then lube before riding0 -
For me -
1.clean chain, cassette, chainrings and both mechs
2.pop the chain off (this is why powerlinks are awesome) and leave to soak in chain cleaner overnight - those little plastic tubs you get with takeaways are great for this.
3. clean the stanchions, rear shock and joplin.
that takes about 15mins and I don't tend to bother with anything else if I know I'm riding again.Santa Cruz Chameleon

wait....you can wash the mud off? :shock:Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

to OP, you did the right thing
My Partner thinks I've got OCD as I clean both bikes after every ride and have been known to get the lights out to do it at night.
Once clean I dry down with a rag, GT85 anywhere that needs it, leave for a bit, then lightly lube chain.
Big believer in doing this every ride in winter as it seems to give smoother shifting and prolong the life of the drive train (plus I hate seeing cack all over the mechs).
Summer is a different matter entirely :twisted:0
