I'm considering some carbon bars for my Wolf Ridge, any recommendations?

There are brand new Monkeylite DHs knocking around for £75... Depends what you use the bike for, a Wolf Ridge can justify them but only if it's ridden hard really.

Easton stuff is pretty much the way to go with carbon imo.

I got my monkeylites SLs for <£60 but they were lo-rise, hi-rise were cheaper from memory.

Seems like they are back to £90 now. Happy Christmas ;)
  • I got some Syncros Bulk bars for £50 in some sales a while back and very happy with them. You need to work out what width and rise you want as that will significantly cut down your choices and people may be able to make more accurate recommendations... Also, what riding do you do - the Wolf is quite heavy duty so you'd probably get away with less heavy duty stuff. Finally - why are you upgrading? Stiffness, comfort or bling (or something else)?

Wouldn't put SLs on a bike like that. If I was considering it, I'd replace the bike not the bars!

  • From memory monkeylight SL's are only around 660mm wide, which isn't much for a bike like the Wolfridge, hence my comment above. My bars are 710mm wide which I love. I'd be wary going above that for trail riding though...

I ride trails mostly, with some light end DH stuff at Cannock. I'm looking to save some weight. Wheels & tyres are fine as they are, so is the cassette... so I figured some nice carbon bars would be the next best way to save a few lbs.

Current bar is a Race Face AM 20mm rise. Wide.

What do your current bars weigh?

by the power of the internet : 270g
  • Wiggle are doing some nice Raceface SixC bars for about £70 I think. May be what you are looking for. I was looking for my brother earlier and anything cheaper is 25.4mm in diameter, meaning.you have to spend a bit on ships as well. SixC's are the best deal I found...

Looking to save approx 100g for your £70.

Seems to be a going rate on weight as the 2 bikes I'm looking at Lapierre zesty 314 vs 514 are £500 apart and 700g apart.... pretty much £ for g! :o
