    It's a standard chainset.

no - your legs make you quicker - not your chainset.
  • Standard chainsets (53/39) are "generally" used by racing and fit cyclists.

Compact (50/36) is usually used by leisurely cyclists, or those heading for big mountain stages.

Triples (50/39/30)are used by those who need close ratio gears for some reason.

Cyclocross chainsets (46/36) are used by er, cyclocross riders.

This is a generalization and not for any meaningful discussion

I race on a compact - so where do I fit into your massively ill-informed generalisation...?

It means you are a LEISURELY cyclist, so move aside while us real men blow by on 53-12.

So what's the percent of racers riding 50/34? I could say I race on a Chopper and would that impress you? The fact is most racers I've seen and know race 53/39 ish and not compact.

And before you blab on yes, i know about gear ratios and 50/11 being equal to 53/12 blah blah blah.

    Not listening!..........

    (so I'm told)

No real men ride 56*11 fixed and only enter hill climbing time trials

So what's the percent of racers riding 50/34?

er - 48.73% - 87 studies have shown that accurate numbers aren't any more useful than the ones you make up....
