rock shox rebas

im thinking of asking for some rock shox reba sl's for christmas but im not sure how much travel to get. the dart 2 's i have on now have 80mm of travel and you can get the rebas with 80mm or 100mm. but the 80mm ones are £20 more. do you think my frame could take 100mm without cracking?by the way i have a giant XTC 4.5 2007 if that helps

It's 2cm, it won't snap you frame, but will affect the handling a bit, making it more stable at speed but turn slightly slower. Also make sure you get the QR and not bolt through Maxle version.

You can reduce 100mm rebas to 80mm anyway if you wish.

i'm running a Giant XTC 3.5 (same frame as the 4.5 i think?) and it came with 100mm Toras on, so it shouldn't be a problem!

Go for the 100's from Merlin you can add the travel adjuster to reduce it down to 80 as Sonic stated but if your frame will take 100mm try them at this to begin with you may enjoy the extra travel.

It might be worth measuring the axle to crown height of your current forks then comparing it to the reba's.

You may find that the Darts have more stanchion showing than the travel they actually have and the axle to crown heights might be quite similar on 100mm.

I am proof that this strategy works. Helps you go faster downhill too! Eating pies = big win.

i have to say i do like the pie eating strategy. but I'll need to train for the national cyclo-cross champs over christmas so it might be a bit difficult
