Changing Cassette and Chains Question

I have an audax bike with a rear cassette which doesn't provide me with low enough gears to get up hills (without walking...). I've bought another cassette which has the necessary gears but I of course lose the top end. I'd like to change the cassette as needed depending on the profile of the ride I'll be taking.

My question is this - should I have a separate chain for each cassette and change the chain each time I change the cassette - or is this not necessary?

Thanks in advance

It depends on how worn the cassette is. You will probably need a new longer chain for the new cassette. Use a missing link and swap the chains when you swap the cassettes over.
