I've seen Ambrosio cassettes for putting on Shimano/SRAM wheels to use with Campagnolo drivetrains, but are there any out there that allow you to use Campagnolo wheels with Shimano/SRAM shifting?

Was thinking of a bike equipped with SRAM Rival and wondered if there's a cassette out there that will allow me to use a set of Campag Zondas with it. Or do I simply have to buy a new freehub body?

    Easiest - new freehub
    Most expensive - Marchisio cassette
Mechanics solutions - respace a Mirage / Veloce cassette with thinner spacers
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Try this company:

RSI (Cycles & Motors) Limited - London
    Tel: 020 8965 2510
    Fax: 08700 512298

It'll probably cost iro £120 though. Good luck.

OK then; supposing the bike's stock drivetrain is SRAM Rival and I want to convert it to a TT bike with the bar end shifters etc. Will a Campag cassette work with this setup or is it time to give Marchisio a call? Or maybe just flog the Zonda wheels I've got now and put the money towards some American Classic 420's?

Is SRAM going to work with a Campag cassette if the shifters at the bar ends are friction based e.g. Dia-compe? Is it the indexing that causes the compatibility problems?

You'll be able to use the shifters in friction mode, but it's tricky to get it shifting smoothly because of the small gaps between the gears - it is the shifter/mech indexing that's incompatible with the spacing on the Campagnolo cassette.

Does that go for ALL friction shifting or just when you mix groupset manufacturers? I thought the SRAM reach mech wouldn't be "indexed" if using the Dia-Compe friction levers?

I guess that means the ratios chosen should be as tight as possible i.e. 12-23? Too bad the bike comes with a Kuota compact chainset. 50-12 top gear on a TT bike......LOL
