Garmin 705 cadence?

I got a Garmin 705 last year. I've never used the cadence meter but as winter is here I thought I would use all tools at my disposal to kind of scientifically train through the crappy months.

I set it all up as described in the manual and everything seems okay. The transponder flashes correctly when the wheel magnet makes its pass, as does the crank-arm magnet. It also flashes when resetting properly but still there is nothing in the cadence field on the device?

What am I doing wrong?

Have you gone into ANT settings and told the 705 you have a cadence meter?

You need to turn it on in the bike profile too.
    Manchester wheelers

    PB's
    10m 20:21 2014
    25m 53:18 20:13
    50m 1:57:12 2013
    100m Yeah right.

Out of interest what firmware does your 705 have?

Setting -- System -- About Edge.

Ditch 3.2 if it has, not saying this is why you can't pair up the cadence sensor but might help.
I think there is something about pressing the reset button on the sensor and on the 705 together.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    garmin says...

To pair your GSC 10 on an Edge 705:

Press Menu to access the Main Menu
    Select Settings
    Select ANT+ Sport
    Select Accessories
Press the Reset button on your GSC 10 (the white button)
Wait for the Reset button to flash red/green
Select Yes under Cadence Sensor Present?
Select Restart Scan to rescan for your device
Pedal your bike to see alternating red/green blinks on the GSC 10 reset button
The speed/cadence icon will show as solid on the main menu when pairing is successful.
