Just got back from Cwmcarn, another great ride

However, just before the final descent it started chucking it down and the puddles got bigger.... Completely screwing up the brakes!

They were just full of water and grit so pulling te levers hardly did anything
Felt like a right passenger!

Got completely caked in mud though, well worth it

How was everyone elses ride today?

I had that a lot last winter, mainly because the Tektro mechanical disc brakes on my old Saracen were so hard to keep in adjustment.

This is my first winter using Shimano XT V brakes on a mtb. I'd been worried about wet weather performance but so far it seems manageable.

Had a great pedal around the Loch Morlich area today, snow level is down to about 3000 feet. I actually cycled through a thin layer of it around 1400 feet last night. Bloody cold.

Maybe sintered pads are a good idea, they should help. And as its a wet and typically british they should be perfect.

Last time I was there I cooked my brakes on the last run down, overshot a corner and hit a tree just at the start of the last descent before the road drop. Not planning on doing it again
