could someone advise me please? I'm building a crosscheck with a 105 drivetrain, and while I save up for brifters, I plan on putting some downtube shifters on. Having just fainted from the price of the dura ace 10 speed ones, will any DT shifters work ok , as long as I use them in friction mode only rather than indexed? thanks

Yes, any friction lever will do.
The more speeds your gear system, the harder it is to get your fingers trained to do quick and accurate changes. Before they are fully trained, listen/feel for the change.
  • thanks andrew- like i say its just a temporary thing unless i really grow to love dt shifters again after growing up using them. anyway thanks for your help. saved me a fortune!
