Chains - Can I add a split link?

Hi.

Excuse the dumb question but I have a Shimano 9 speed chain. Can I add a KMC or SRAM type joining link to make removal easier?

If so, is there any difference SRAM or KMC?

Yes and no.

Yes as long as you use a 9 speed SRAM or KMC link.

KMC and SRAM links are identical just the colours are different
