X7 Shifter wont shift

HEEELLLLPPPP!!!!!. My new Sram x7 trigger shifter wont shift from gear 1 on the indicator. It wont click under tension or with no tension on or off the bike. There is nothing wrong with the rear derailler or anything like that its just the poxy shifter. Any ideas what it could be before I throw them in the bin and buy some X0 shifters. Thanks

    set up in the wrong gear.

    buying X0 will not fix it.

    gear 1 is which? big cog or small cog? what is the rear mech?

    Gear 1 is big cog, rear mech is x7 as well. I cant even get a single click out of the shifter even with it off the bike with nothing attached.

    If it's new it will be under warranty. Or bin it and buy Shimano.

    Was thinking that but I prefer the look of the sram stuff
