Fox Float RL fork lockout won't unlock

My fork was being a bit weird yesterday and felt like there was a lot of resistance to the travel. I was only getting about half the travel all day and then half way down a big descent the fork totally locked out and couldn't be made to work again.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm planning on taking it all apart and rebuilding it to see if that fixes the problem. I was ust looking for some advice as to what might be causing the problem.
