I went up to cannock at the wknd and had loads of problems with drivetrain clogging up and the conditions werent that bad, I got home and the jockey wheels on the sram x9 mech were clogged up to the max, after stripping the mech down cleaning it and putting it back together ive noticed there is some serious play in the jockey wheels??? is this normal on this mech or should they be tight with only forward/backward rotation?? im gonna buy new chain and cassette today and try some of the white lightning chain lube i reckon in the mean time.......

any thoughts????

how much is a lot of play?

if the teeth are not worn, the jockey wheels centre them selves so they will still work with some side to side play.

clean them and after you have fitted new chain and cassette, adsusted the rear mech, see how that goes.
