Hi,

I have been offered some very nice Fulcrum wheels from a mate - however they have a campagnolo freehub and i run Sram. I know you can convert/replace the freehubs but i am unsure how you do this or what id need to buy. Basically id be grateful if someone could break down how i could run Sram on the wheels and what the cost would likely to be.

I have used the search and found several threads however they aren't that clear in what you have to do to achieve the conversion.

Thanks in advance

    Go to the Fulcrum website
    http://www.fulcrumwheels.com/jspfulcrum ... world=road

Scroll down to Spare Parts and open the appropriate manual for your wheels' year, then go to the appropriate page for your wheels, rear hub.

This will then show you if there are alternative freehub bodies available
    - e.g. 2010 Racing5's use part no.R5-014 as a Campag freehub ('Campy' according to the manual) and part R5-020 for Shimano or SRAM ('HG' - which means Shimano HG and will also suit SRAM)

Then all you need to do is get that alternative HG/Shimano/SRAM freehub body and replace your Campag one.

    How it comes off ?
Well on my old-style R5's it was a matter of removing the axle by undoing the nuts with cone spanners, then gently drifting the freehub body off the hub itself.
To refit it was necessary to hold the pawls in by tying a loop of string around them, gently knocking the freehub partway into the hub and then pulling-out the string, then knocking it fully home and refitting the axle, retensioning the bearings.

Different hubs perhaps work in slightly different ways, but the exploded diagrams in the manual should show you what you're dealing with, so if the description above makes sense to you and you can follow the diagrams, you can probably manage it fine.

If on the other hand it's all new and you're not mechanically-confident, don't know what a cone spanner or pawl is or how to tension a bearing, then maybe a job for the bikeshop ?

Looks like about £50/55 ish for the freehub body

Many thanks for that incredibly detailed post

They are Racing Zeros (red) - ill find out the year and then see what can be done

I think i might leave it to the bikeshop as ill probs be able to order the hubs through them and then they'll fit it for free...

    Thanks Again
