Mudguard adjustment

I have a Ribble Winter frame with the standard mudguards it comes with, however I have a couple of issues...

Front guard: appears to be slightly wonky and one of the stays is rubbing on the tyre where it holds onto the guard. Can't seem to get enough clearance on one side.

Rear guard: sounds like it's rubbing somewhere, although can't pinpoint where.

Just wondering if it's worth getting some new, "better" mudguards or if there's something I can do to play with the positioning of the existing guards (have already lifted as high as possible).

Also, any tips for preventing the guards clogging up with mud when riding round countries lanes, or is it just a case of giving them a good wash after each mucky ride.

Cheers

Bend the stays a little till the guard clears the tyre. I have a Ribble winter frame with SKS guards and they don't rub on either the 25mm rear or the 23mm front.
  • Thanks.

the stays aren't bending very easily, although I guess I can undo and bend as that may be easier.
