Wow, that's the dullest thing I've ever seen. "freeriding" must mean something entirely different in tandemland huh?[/quote]
    Don't think, BE:
  • About 9 years ago I raced as stoker on the back on one in the Scottish XC series - only tandem there so we were the unofficial title holders...of course being the Stoker meant I was always second!!!

They are good fun and they go at a fair rate of knots...fine offroad but you need to remember the longer wheelbase and ease of grounding it...apart from that it's pretty much full speed ahead...

  • Does make me wonder if its April fools day. --- Anyone tempted? :D

You just need to broaden your outlook, that's all.

I was overtaken by a husband/wife team on one last Sunday in the downhill mud/leaves/stones etc and I thought I was pushing it a bit, and boy were they having fun and that's what it's all about.

So don't knock it until you've tried it

i saw some people on a tandem riding cwmcarn last year!!!! complete nutters, i was up above them on the climb as i saw them bobbing along one after the other, it was very strange to see

i didn't see them on any of the descents so i'm not sure how it handled

Don't knock it til you've tried it +1.
Bought a Cannondale MT1 frameset from SJS back in the day (1993 maybe) and it's one of THE best pound-for-pound cycling investments I've ever made.
Paid £900 for the frame back then and it's still going strong today - admittedly,
there's a touch of the 'triggers' broom' theory at work - 2nd set of wheels, 3rd set of brakes, etc etc. but it's been a blast.
    Time trialled it.
    Road raced it.
    XC MTB'd it.
DH'd it(at the old Malvern Hills Classic).
Toured Ireland, Tuscany, Italian Lakes, French Alps and Central Spain on it
(though not on the same trip!)
It's pulled my kids in a trailer (now that was a LONG vehicle!)
and never fails to raise a smile from me and the missus and from
passers-by and gets far more admiring glances and conversations
started than any road bike or MTB I've ever owned - so there!
