I recently built my new tarmac and I'm after a chainstay protector but i cant find one big enough to get round the chainstay. I have tried a jumbo lizard skin one but it Sony reach round the bit closest to the frame.

Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers
Craig

Chain slap does happen even on road bikes, after a while look at chainstay protectors and it has a few bits of grease and cuts on them. Also on a new bike FD might not be setup correctly so chain may plop off on smallest front, and a chainstay protector will help in that occurance. Also if you take rear wheel off, the chain will rest on the protector, not the chainstay.

I used a lizard skin MTB on my chainstay but removed it after riding it for a bit, just used "just in case" got the Giant fitted clear tape and that seems fine. Halfords sell a pack for a fiver with chainstay and 4-6 smaller ones, but mine is starting to come away from the frame :-(
    Say... That's a nice bike..
Trax T700 with Lew Racing Pro VT-1 ;-)
  • My S-Works Roubaix frame was supplied with a clear stay protector already fitted. It's very thin and as good as invisible - you only know it's there by running your fingers along/around the stay.
There's no such thing as too old.

I always use copter tape, get it from here http://www.biketart.com/products/biketape ...not that cheap but you cant really see it when its on, bit of cutting and common sense to get round the shape of whatever you're putting it on.
