so, remember i bought a gt as a kind of clothes horse for the parts fitted to it until i could find a suitable fs frame replacement?
i bought this and will be picking it up on wednesday:
it comes complete with some spank bitch stick bars, an nc-17 post and a spesh saddle. it also has a spare mech hanger and a replacemnt blue button for the orange one fitted which is fitted to the newest ones.
current projected spec is:
edison frame with upgraded pva shock and optional rebound unit fitted
spank bars
gravity dropper classic remote post
stroker brakes (203 and 180)
x9 front and rear mech
x9 shifters
hope pro2 hubs on dt 5.1 rims
stans kit
specialized 2 bliss the captain and purgatory tyres.
deore cranks
dmr v8 pedals
slx cassette
imperial lock on grips with green collars.
should i buy green pedals? or stick with plain black ones i already have?

cool. i'd be tempted by some black or even better green superstar nano tech pedals0
-
Damn that's going to be a sweet build when it's completed.0

Looks great sheeps and in perfect condition as well. You've been angling to get one of these for a while havent you? Glad you got on in the end
Green Superstar nanotechs without a shadow of a doubt, have 2 sets of them and they are superb for the money.. if they feel too much for you go for them in black with green pins.... we dont get much ano green going on here so am looking forward to this colour scheme...
Check out Clee cycles for KCNC bling in green
Going to follow this build closely...
Nice one!!! 8)0 -

Green Superstar nanotechs
i was aiming for a golden willow to replce my old one which was such a good bike but the real thing i wanted was the bionicon system.
andyrm sent me a message when he found out the guy who owned this bike was selling and i couldnt resist especially with the upgrades and the price.
i will build it on wednesday with the black pedals and think about whether to go for green ones, the lime green nano pedals look very cool but i dont normally go for coloured pedals so i dont know if they will be a bit loud.
apart fromt hat the only green detailing will be the bits on the bars, the lock rings and possbly the pedals so it shouldnt look like a mad womans shitt.
does any one know if anyone makes green seat collars?0 -
Plus one on KCNC green bling, it's truely fantastic looking. Sounds like it'S gonna be a beauty of a bike when done, can't wait to see it.0

Whilst Green bits would look proper Bo! what some people seem to be missing is the shade of green. It's hard to tell the exact shade from those pics, but you might struggle to match it close enough that it dosent look odd. I've had the exact same problem with Orange bits. Some of my orange stuff STILL dosent match up, and it plsses me off.
Also, if you *do" end up buying a load of green bits, you'll wind up in the same boat as me when you come to swap frames, where the stuff you have only works with very specific colour sets.
Of course, all that said and done, I'd probably sill end up buying green bits anyway 'cos it looks rad and sick to the extreme.0 -

Yeah should definitely buy the bling. Their not too expensive to buy in general, so you won't have to spend too much to get the new color bling if you switch frames.0 -
that looks rather cool.
I've wanted to have a go on a bionicon... 've get confused by all the levers though... does it run on steam?0 -
Ask Hope nicely and you may be able to get one of their 'pro only' green clamps...glad to have been able to help too!0

at first the hardest thing to do is to remember to use it but once you get used to it (it only took me about an hour to remember to use it) it is amazing. i think most folk will agree that adjustable travel is a brilliant idea, imagine not havng to stop to adjust that travel so you can improve what hippies call flow.
it blows uturn and talas out of the water.
ive heard and read criticism about the suspension action but genuinely, its supple and well controlled. i always thought it was excellent but what suits me wont suit everyone. id highly recommend taking one out for a day though.0 -
yea I imagine that there may always be a compramise somewhere... but finding it may be the hardest thing... hense me wanting to try one!0

I'm absolutely in love with mine and aside from the awesome action, I love the fact you can fully service it at home, no need for £80 services unlike the mainstream fork manufacturers...0

this is true, makes for very simple ownership. which reminds me, i need to get some fork never stick. have you been using the bionicon stuff or something else? i was using wet chain lube before (as advised) which was ideal but i might get the proper stuff this time round.
and i like the idea of one of the chain guide things0 -
I just use Fox float fluid which I nick off my mrs....and take pleasure in pointing out I'm servicing MY forks with HER fluid myself and not paying for it to be done.....! Those new guides are awesome, so simple but so perfect.0

I'v always thought it sounds like an awsome system... would love to have a go, and that looks like its gunna be a sweet build.... maybe if we a have a Nut Libe ride one day you could bring it and i could have a go ?! ( :P ) really though, thats gonna be great.... i think the way it shortens the forks AND raises the rear and vice versa to change the abgles and heights and ride feel of the WHOLE bike is very, very clever.
the closest iv got/seen is on my Magura Thor's... you press the button on the bars and push your weight forward to shorten, and push the button and unweight the front wheel to return them to full travel. It works really well and is a great system, though obviously it doesnt effect the rear sus like the Bionicon (not that i have any anyway)I like bikes and stuff0 -
i rode a bionicon and i really loved the travel adjustment system but i thought the forks weren't as plush as rock shox and fox but still a great bike
looking forward to seeing it built up0 -
picked it up from a top bloke earlier today, just got in and ftted a couple of bits to make it a rolling rig so far:
the green of the grips doesnt even come close but i quite like the look of it any way and will be looking for a seatpost clamp which matches and i reckon i will go for some grey mg1 pedals.
will have to get finished off tomorrow as i want to sit on the sofa for a bit before work. NOTHING gets in the way of big d's sofa time, not even a new bike.0 -
Looks freakin awesome!!!
Top Work Big D!
Looking forward to some more shots of it though0 -
im so excited about it i could pisss myself. it is such a lovely thing in the flesh so to speak. ive wanted another bionicon for soooo long to have one again feels mega, i cant wait to get it sorted, and get it on the trails (arm permitting)

Looks awesome man - that bike was much loved by Damon and lavished with sooooooo much care, great to see it in good hands and built up into another monster!
It was riding that very bike you now own that made me buy mine!0 -

Looks good, big D. So far, the only change I'd make would be for a shimano rear hub. I got tired of the hope CLAK CLAK CLAKing away0 -
Looks good mate, I'd go for the nano pedals, i really rate mine!0

Good work, needs more Lime though.0

almost done, just need a shim to arrive so i can fit the gravity obvious, went together easy enough, was akward with 2 dodgy hands (one with a bandaged finger the other on a cracked forearm). dont like having interrupted outer cables might have to think about a frame mod to rectify this..
comes in at about 29 .5lbs, the GD will raise this to about 30. not bad considering it has cost me about 1000 quid including buying the GT and the parts fitted to it.0 -
