Shimano 2300 hoods adjustment?
Hello,
I'm not sure how to loosen the shifter/brake lever on my bike. It just feels more turned to one side than the other one, hence me wanting to loosen it and turn it the other way so that it feels like the other lever.
It's a Shimano 2300 lever.
PS - I googled for videos and read the manuals that came wit hthe bike, but there does not seem anything related. I popped the rubbery bit of the hoods[?] but did not see any screws.

With the majority of Shimano road STIs they are secured with a 5mm allen bolt accessed by sliding the allen key down the side of the hood. Look on the outside of the hood and you'll see a slight dimple, pull the hood back and slide the allen key down and twiddle it till it engages in the bolt.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Is it possible that it could be covered by the bar tape?
There does not seem to be anything - apart from a little "screw" head, it looks completely round though and is about 1mm in diameter.0 -

No, have another look. There is a slight indentation where the hood meets the body of the shifter.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Do I pick that bit off?0

Yes, peel it back and you'll see Allen bolt head0

Pop the plasitc bit up?
I'm not sure how to do that as there seems to be no obvious catch anywhere.0 -
Slide the allen key underneath the rubber hood towards the bars using that groove as a guide. It's impossible to wrap bar tape over the bolt head.FTT

You can pull the whole top of the hood down from just above the shimano emblem. To replace it just involves a bit of stretching into place0

Got it now - I looked there before, but thought it was a cable-holding-place.
Thanks a lot for the help guys!0
