Hi guy's

Just after a little advice on this (or reasurence).

I'm after a road bike to get me to and from work (around 8.5 miles each way) and also to get out on a weekend for a ride on some local B- roads.

I've only ever had and ridden MTB's but this year through work and other stuff i just haven't had the time to get out to the trails so i've been doing all my riding on the road which isn't ideal on a full sus

I was at Evans the other day and saw this

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/tre ... e-ec020773

for £420 it looks a good buy and would do what i need, plus it's a good saving on the 2011 model which is the same spec only a different colour and that is £574.99

So i was wondering if there is any reason i should stay away from it? I realise it has no carbon fork but i can upgrade this at my LBS for a carbon fork with a carbon steerer for £100 (which my girlfriend said she would get me for xmas).

This would get me a nice looking bike with carbon forks for a little over £500, any feedback would be most welcome.

Thanks. Andy :)

The lack of replies answers the thread title?

The question has only been up for a morning!

I can't see any obvious reason not to buy, if you like the bike and it fits. Have you had a test ride? There will be other options at that price, but it's a nice saving to make.

I wouldn't spend the money on forks as a first upgrade - maybe some spd's and shoes instead?

if you want carbon fork buy the 1.2, got my gf one earlier in the year cant complain at all but wouldnt say a carbon fork would make it a deal breaker, defo go for some shoes and pedals and/or shorts
    i need more bikes

I would recommend taking it for a test spin if they let you. It may be a good bike and it may be a good bargain but it might not be the right bike for you (even if it is, you want to be sure the size is right so make sure you spend time setting up the bike, saddle height and fore/aft position, for your test ride). If you get back to the shop and want to keep riding instead of stopping then bob's your uncle.
