Sherwood pines
Hi chaps,
I'm up in nottingham this week on a course which finishes about 3 ish, so i was hoping to get out and test the local riding. is sherwood pines worth the effort? is it just going to be a mud bath? or are they proper trails?
Cheers

Haven't ridden there for a while - but id imagine with the recent downpours the trail could be a little muddy - I do know that they made some sections 'all surface' though. If you do a loop of the red + blue it will take up 1-2 hrs of your time - its worth it for quick blast if your in the area.
Last time I was there, there were some sections closed and diversions in place - im not sure if these are still in place.
The best ridding is to be found off the main red and blue trail though - but best found when you have a local with you - I'm afraid I'm in work otherwise I would of offered to show you around!
Have a look in my sig for the kind of thing you can expect.0 -

Probably a bit late for you, but I've just been to Pines for the first time in 4 months and they appear to have cut a lot of better trails in. At the start there's still around 400 yards of boggy stuff, and near the end when you take the trail threading around some trees there's still a bit of mud. Overall though compared to what it used to be like it's very clean and has some fun new sections cut into it. There's no killer climbs, but the short ones you do find can be a challenge if you try to sprint up them. It does however benefit from being almost 100% singletrack and reasonably thin in places to make it interesting. When the red takes you through the "Downhill Area" the Pier (a woodwork ladder drop thing) is good fun to session and if you're feeling sprightly you can do a few laps of the downhill area by riding up the blue "Push-up" trail. It is probably the most tame red run in the country still and hopefully they'll get the hint and put more features in to make it interesting someday.0
