Hi,

Say you purchased a set of forks off ebay (2nd hand) and found that the steerer tube had been cut too short for them to physically fit your bike. Do you think you would be reasonable in asking for a refund?

The onus is on you to make sure that the steerer is long enough to fit your frame. The seller will quite correctly tell you where to go. Surprised your even asking.

Unfortunately as it is a question you should have asked, 'buyer beware'

only if he misled you, or if the quoted length was incorrect......presumably you did confirm the length of the steerer with the seller...?

To be honest you don't have a leg to stand on.

I'm afraid your going to have to put it down to experience.

Really the seller should state the length of steerer tube, but if he didn't you should have asked. Because, as you've found out it's very important.

All is not lost though, as long as you didn't pay over the odds for them you shouldn't have too much trouble selling them on and should lose too much money.

p.s. I find Bike Radar a better place to sell than eBay and it's free.

    It's a shame. Just re-sell them.

Lesson learned. If buyer doesn't agree to accept them back, keep an eye on the classifieds for a set of kinesis crosslight forks with carbon steerer 1 1/8" and 204mm steerer length.
