Outers without end caps

Replaced Tektro brakes on my steel tourer with Shimano R650, but Campag outers with the end caps do not fit into the Shimano entry bolts on the brakes? Is this a problem?
Also when I cut them down, the first cut went terribly wrong  so on the second cut it maybe a bit short, so the angle of the outer to the bolt isn't quite straight (because the outer is shorter than I wanted it to be) will this be a problem?

I've no caps on my Gore ride-on, fitted to 6600's as they wouldn't fit. Contacted Madison's and they said it was no problem. Apparently you can get caps though that are wider at the cable end than the brake end that solve the problem. It's on my summer bike so I'm not worried as it doesn't get wet much. Personally I'd just change the cables if you've got them going in at an angle as I'd want the job done right. And it's against the law to mix Shimano and Campag don't you know0

You'd want the end caps on (lots of linear plies) gear cables to stop them splitting, but (helical) brake cables will be alright without them.
As it's at the bottom end, there's no worries about water running in either.
Yes it's a bit short, but not a disaster, providing your brakes work OK, no issue.
- as the pads wear down, you'll screw-out the adjuster a bit as well0
