What's the difference between the 32mm chassis and the 35mm/40mm chassis on these maxles -

What does the 32mm and the 35mm/40mm relate to?

Thanks, Rick.
Now, you wouldn't happen to know if the 20mm Maxle Lite 2011 fits the Pike forks, do you? The Lite is less expensive than the original, so may as well save a few quid.0 -

You've already broke one maxle, just dish out the £40 and learn from it instead of making 4 different posts in different forums.
Yes, Sir!0 -

You have a good point, and I agree with you. I'm just assessing all options, but should've kept it all in one post!0
-
You'll know for next time
tbh £40 is a rip off for those things but as far as i can see you don't have an alternative.0 -
I know, £40 is steep, but I suppose if I need one I'll have to get out the ol' wallet.
I think that the current one will still work fine, but I know that it'll eventually bug me enough that'll I'll end up buying a replacement.
Hindsight, eh!0 -
I'm pretty sure running it with a broken maxle would leave you open to warranty issues. Consider it lucky that the £40 is a reduction from the normal RRP of £48!0
-
It's actually a second-hand bike, Bennett, so the warranty is not an issue. It's more of a safety concern, if anything.0

Can I just butt in and ask if anyone knows what the hell is the difference between Maxle, and Maxle light?0

Me too, mate. I'm still trying to figure out if the Lite is compatible with the Maxle 360 forks. I know the Lite is 50gms lighter than the 360, but it is also cheaper at CRC, so if I can use it, then it would save a few quid.
I know that the light was supposed to be aimed at Enduro/XC, and I heard that they weren't making it compatible with all forks because they didn't want it subject to heavy abuse. That said, I still ain't got a bloody clue!0 -
Maxle has a tapered wedge iirc at the threaded end of the axle where as the maxle lite has the wedge at the cam end of the axle meaning its lighter due to not having a steel shaft passing right through it? Might be well out with that though.0

I've just gone and inspected my pikes' maxle light and as far as i can tell it looks identical to a standard maxle. You should be good to go with one and im sure you could get a refund if it doesnt fit. Whats the cost saving?0 -
Cheers, Bennett.
It's a saving of £5.00. They're £34.99, as opposed to £39.99!0 -

Oh, the one on a Pike is a Maxle light then?
I didn't know that. I thought mine was a maxle 360 or something.0 -
Mine is the 360 on my Pike forks, but I was looking at the 2011 Lite as a replacement. Rick is correct about the Lite, which doesn't have the steel bar running all the way through.
Bottom upwards - the original Maxle, then Maxle 360, then the Maxle Lite. The new Maxle Lite is at the top.

Mine's nothing like that, it hasn't got a split going down the length of it showing the insides.

They must've seen you coming. Take it back and complain!0 -
Yeah my pikes come with a maxle light, according to specializeds specs anyway.0
-
I reckon I could buy the Lite then.
If it's wrong, I can always come on here and blame you lot!0
