Cervelo S2 2010 Self Build
Hi,
I have spent 15 mins or so searching this forum, but cannot find similar posts, apologies if missed it. There is a workshop feature on the main site, but figured those bits out myself. I am looking for more S2 specific advice.
I picked up my new Cervelo S2 frameset yesterday and very happy with it. Its going to be my winter project and build it myself (may get bike shop to fit crank) for next spring. First attempt!!
I am looking to put SRAM Red groupset on next month so starting my research early. I have looked on the Cerevlo site (which details the P4) but cannot find any help about self build, in particular about internal cable routing. Any advice on what goes where with the S2 would be appreciated.
Some questions that spring to mind. Front or rear mech cables, which hole is which in the top tube?
Assume cable outer does not go through the frame for gears or brakes?
No barrel adjuster with this type of set up for gears?
Thanks
Simon

I assume t's the white frame - then it's 2010.
I have an S3 - very similar - that I built myself with Sram Red. Feel free to PM me with questions.
(First hole - closest to the handlebars = front mech. Second hole = rear mech.) Outer cables (with an end cap) feed into the hole - then simply run the inner the rest of the way. Giant pain in the arse to fish them out of the bottom bracket area.
No barrel adjuster - no. Don't really need one and there isn't room for one.
Rear brake cable feed into frame on left/underside - and feeds out on top/rear.
Shop where I bought my frame put the BB in for me and cut the steerer down to size - I did the rest. Took me an afternoon.0 -
Pokerface, thanks for your advice and offer of pm. Will probably take you up on that at some point. Good tip heard re the cables was to feed it in tie cotton thread to end and use Hoover to suck it out at the other end.
It is the White 2010 which is similar to S3. How are you finding it?
Do you mind if I ask what stem and bars you have put on? Not sure to go with 3T or the Easton.
Thanks

S3 = best.bike.ever. 8) But the S3 is a different ride than the S2 due to different chainstays.
I have the 3T stem and bars - but only because they match the rest of the bike nicely. Just bought the Rotor 3D cranks and Q-Rings for the bike also.
And that hoover idea is one of the silliest things I've ever heard. Might just work0 -
Simon - one more tip for you.
Where the front mech cable comes out of the frame (right before you attach it to the mech - put a put of outer cable around the inner at the exit hole.
The reason - small design flaw that means the inner will rub against the frame and can affect shifting. In my case - the cable cut right through the frame. I'm currently looking at having it replaced under warranty because of it.0 -
Thanks for the tip, makes sense so will make sure I do that0
