Right, i'm a technical plank

I have an m542 chainset, which ive managed to grind the big ring teeth pretty flat, I never use the big ring, so is there anything stopping me whipping that off and fitting a bash such as the slx or the m545 guard?

also whilst I'm at this fettling, could i change to a 36 tooth middle ring?

cheers people

I like mine though, and she can't help it, shes 93 now

I like a 22, mainly because i'm not that athletic

next question, is there much to be gained then from swapping to a double specific front mech, or is it a must?

Mech is fine, just adjust the limit screws.

nope if he goes for a 36T then there is a very good chance the the mech will need lifting.

cheers fellas, i might just stick with a 22/32 for now, see how i get on with that, to be fair I have yet to need my big ring so it should be ok with those two and a bash then. I can always fettle again at a later date

Pedantic. Mech itself will be fine, will need adjusting accordingly.
