Are 661 Race Lite Knee/Shin Pads any good?

I am a roadie branching out into the dark side and getting bewildered by even more products to choose from and to splash money on. I have started doing the XC trails at Cannock Chase. I do not intend to do DH for now. I've had a few minor crashes and one rather painful shin from pedal pins. Yes, I will be taking some MTB skills tuition and I am also looking at protection. I am looking for something not too expensive. Are the SixSixOne Race Lite Knee/Shin Pads any good?

    I bought these after having the same problem with taking chunks from the shins :P
    If you can put up with a little bit of inevitable sweat underneath they are comfortable, well made and a sound investment i would say :)
