Dura-Ace Octalink BB replacement cone ?
My 7 year old Dura Ace BB is feeling a bit rough, so I decided to remove it the other day. To my surprise, it's not a cartridge unit, and all the cups, bearings and cones are separate.
The cause of roughness is that the drive side cone is pitted. Unlike a normal BB axle where the 'cone' is essentially a lip in the axle, with the BB-7700 unit the cone is a loose ring that sits again a lip in the axle.
Does this mean I can replace the cones ? I'll be damned if I can find them anywhere.
