Hi all,
I'm looking at upgrading my 09 rockhopper pro disc ( for sale btw!)... To either a 2010 zesty 314 or a ghost AMR5900 but not sure which is the better bike. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance
Paul

  • My advice is neither  Get your self a Trek Fuel EX8.

  • depends on how much travel you need really, if you have made your mind up on these two bikes, i would go for the zesty, if travel isnt an issue look at giant anthem x3
  • Cheers guys, I'll look into those options...

have a ride. Just got myself a zesty but that was after looking into the trek, the zesty and a few others. The zesty felt like the best bike when i was on it. 140 both ends as well sucks up a lot of bumps.

Good choice they are really good bikes. Like you I tried other bikes (Trek EX8 + 9 various Specialized) but none felt "just right", the Lappy felt right from the off.

Anyway there way better looking than the Treks

Lights the blue touch paper and stands back :)

You are correct there, the zesty is a sexy looking bike but you don't look at the fire place when you are pokering the fire.

I went from a Rockhopper to a Zesty recently and I absolutely love it -found myself riding with much more confidence and going much more quickly over the same terrain.

    Great bike
  • I've just brought the black and white version Ghost AMR 5900 on the ride to work, it rides like a dream, I was looking at the 2010 214 before, rode both and the Ghost won my heart over.
Only thing I'm going to change in the centrelock rotors/hubs and run tubeless. It's suprisingly light! Even though I read reviews it's weighty..

Zesty's are like arseholes of MTB World, everyone 's got one.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though
