Anyone using a Bike cave to store their bike(s)?

Any plus / minus points, other than security as that is not an issue for me (luckily).

  • Looking at buying one as my new place doesn't have room in the bike store for my stable of bikes, looks right but worryingly the weak point seems to be the zip which seems to have the approximate life of a may fly.

Christ that looks flimsy for fifty quid! I think in the same situation I'd be looking to cobble something rigid together.

I couldn't quite read the writing on the said of it. I presume it said 'Please steal my bikes'...

Tarpaulins are not so great as you lift off bike with 5 litres of rain water on it and onto you... or as winter looms 4 kilos of ice stuck to it.
Bike caves are not so good if you live in open plan chav zone.. I agree

Having a walled hidden courtyard my next best plan is a couple of willow trellis' acting as a roof.. cant hammer in tent pegs into the stone flagstones.
It's only cos I'm lazy and leave the bike in kitchen during the week.. even I get fed up of it getting in the way....
  • Much as I'd like to live in a property that had it's own double garage next to the stables and servants quarters in order to keep my bikes secure, unfortunately my financial circumstances and choice of locale mean the best I can do is a small rented place. Landlords don't tend to like you building a brick shed or adding an extra wing to your property so one must make the best of it.

A chain shackle on the wall, a big chuff off chain and something to keep the rain off is the best I can do, so this (at £30 from Amazon) is perfect for me. I have played the tarpaulin game with bikes and at 6am I can assure you getting covered in moldy water filled with slugs and lord knows what else is far from amusing.
