What would break first?
If well over-torqued, what would break/crack first?
(1) A carbon seatpost?
(2) The metal seatpost collar?
(3) The collar bolt?
(4) The carbon frame?
I was once told it would be the collar by my LBS, but that was in respect of an aluminium frame.
Thoughts?

I'd guess the frame. But that's all it is - a guess.
May I ask why? Do you intend to overtighten your seatpost?0 -
In my experience not the bolt or collar, but probably the seatpost - the frame has a slot to allow for tightening. Get it torqued correctly and no need to find out!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I would say the thread in the seat collar unless it has a steel insert then it would be the bolt that shears off. Let us know what you discoverHe is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0

For me it has been the threaded seatpost collars.
(campy and others)
Here's a tip: get the right sized bolt.
If it's too short, you'll strip something. Duh. :oops:0
