Spokes keep coming loose

Right, got a problem with my Fulcrum Racing 3's.
I keep having spokes come loose, only thing is it's usually mid ride and they come loose enough for the nipple to drop in the rim and the rim to pull right over to the opposite side, I also think it always seems to happen on the non driveside too.
Happened again on my ride this morning for about the 5th time now and I'm getting pretty annoyed with it.

Anything you can recommend me to do?
I was maybe thinking some Loctite (221) on the threads.

    The wheel neeeds retensioning.
  • So that'll stop it happening?
I've never had it go that bad before with other wheels on the MTB, I've had spokes come loose and be fine for weeks, but this just goes in a matte of hours almost.
They've got alu nipples on, which can't be helping either?
Worth it to get something like DT Prolocks in Brass?
  • and loctite your nipples when you retension- i had the same problem with a set of mavic k elites- been fine since they were loctited

Biggest cause of spokes coming loose is them not tight enough to start with. Also the main cause of them breaking.

Knowingly riding the wheels with loose / uneven spoke tension is asking for trouble - get an experienced wheelbuilder to retrue and tension.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

NOt hijacking this thread, but I have a similar problem - non driveside spokes a littel loose causing some annoying creaking - however when I retension them up the wheel no longer runs true - is it just trial and error to get it right?
What do you mean I\'m in the wrong gear?

its a careful technique using the left or right spokes to pull it true.
  • Make sure they do the "overtwisting" when building a wheel. Ie. overtorque by half a turn, and back off. This eliminates spoke windup. Then also get them to use some kind of spoke thread compound (the correct loctite or spoke prep)
