What do you have? As Autumn/winter approaches what jackets do you have, or do I need? I don't want a wardrobe full of different jackets for particular situations, I would prefer one jacket that does all but I suspect that wont be the case. I'd love a jacket that fits in my back pocket is light and hopefully breathable. Any suggestions.

Gore Windstopper, with a base layer T shirt.
The windstopper is great in the colder weather with removable sleeves if you get hot. Plus it is built like a jersey.
Great product
I got mine for my birthday

Thanks for that. Silly question how water proof is it? I know it says it is windproof but it is it suitable for use all year round?0

imho waterproofing isn't usually important, once you get going the boil in the bag effect kicks in and you end up wet inside anyway
a windproof that lets the water wick through fast and evaporate is bettermy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -

It is when the rain is cold, and really cold blustery wind. I'd choose boil in the bag over being chilled to the bone. Hot and wet though I'd just leave the lycra on, perhaps with overshoes or waterproof socks, and a baseball cap. Don't get too bad boil in the bag effect, if it's raining less grip so not going full out anyway, so working less hard.
As for one jacket that does it all, that isn't going to happen. I have
Non windproof jacket- good for a bit chilly days, non windproof so don't overheat, nor get too cold.
Windproof for colder days
Waterproof jacket, for when it's raining.
Either I wear the waterproof jacket on top of the jersey, or if it's cold (feel rain cooling you through the waterproof jacket) I wear the windproof jacket underneath. Don't wear the windproof one under the waterproof jacket because I'll be too hot then.Say... That's a nice bike..

It's a superb jacket, It's very wind proof and breathable, it's not waterproof, but I've been caught in some heavey showers without a problem. As mentioned, the sleeves zip off for those warmer days and I wear it with just a base layer when it gets cold.
I got mine from Rutland Cycles, they had the best price.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

Assos Element One, exceptional ....0

.....another +1 for the Gore Phantom, a cycling pal kept saying it was the best piece of clothing he'd bought, so I bought one and after my Assos bibs I'd agree.0

I have a Showers Pass softshell -excellent windproofing and good rain resistance. It has big pit zips to let the moisture out, but is also breathable. Looks good off the bike too. If it's more foul I also wear a thin Castelli Velo jacket to block the rain. I've also got a Gore, goretex cycling cap which keeps the head warm. No one jacket will do it all, I think...Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0

I am waiting to get one of these when they release them, if it is truly waterproof, windproof, breathable and packs up small all for £59 then it looks like a bit of a bargain because I have not found anything that can do all this that I can afford yet.

I have an Advance Windlite Ronhill windproof running jacket which is also good for cycling. It seems to repel water even very heavy down pours although not being classed as fully water proof. It is very breathable and very light. I can fold and roll it up into a spare Madison sunglasses pouch I have. You certainly know it works as today the chill NW head wind was going straight to my bones through a base layer and a long sleeve jersey. After I put it on I soon warmed up and couldn't believe the thin fabric was stopping the wind. It is an amazing windproof jacket for £25.
I also have an Altura Sympatex jacket for when it really rains as this is waterproof and the fabric breathable. Sometimes I wear it in winter when it's very cold and windy, but now I will be wearing the Ronhill if it continues to perform.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. I've just bought a Gore Contest II SO softshell jacket for £60 (reduced from £90) from Alpine Bikes. The weather's not been bad enough to wear it yet, but I've got high hopes of it keeping most of the weather off and remaining comfortable for a pretty decent price.Cannondale CAAD 9
