So after putting together my hardtail and getting some "mixed" feedback on here for it ...
...I decided that the time had come (It had been looming for some time now) to treat myself to my 1st ever full suspension steed along with a few upgrades. Pictured below.
Specialized FSR XC Pro - In soon not to be so shiny white
As well as the upgrades shown I got some nice Yeti grips soon to be changed to red ones, (I'm doing a subtle red trim theme ) Some DMR V12 pedals, a new XT cassette and a Sram PC991 chain. I'm still waiting for my Hope (red) seatpost clamp to come into stock also.
Anyway, let me know what you think!
I LOVE IT!
...a Hope rear skewer in racing red
...swish new saddle
...some snappy shifters
...a nice new set of cranks
... and another hope skewer in racing red.

Lovely bike, shame about the skewers.
I fell into the "hope bling" skewers trap, but realised how crap they were after a handful of winter rides.0 -
its a specialized, therefore it is perfect. i like that alot0

Oh really? I'll bare that in mind before using the Specialized ones supplied elsewhere. I have only read good reviews though. But that said, it wouldn't be the 1st good reviews to be utter horse dump.0 -
The only good skewers are the boring old shimano ones, really. They're just done right..0

I quite like the newer style Hope ones, good bit more beefy than the old style ones.0

Oh, you might want to move the controls inboard a bit too, give yourself some leverage on the brake levers. You might think it's fine, until you try it, then you'll not go back.0

Could you explain what you mean here, as I'm not totally clear exactly what you mean?0 -
Ah ok. Well, if you move the brake levers further towards the centre of the bars, you can use them with either one or two fingers, right at the outside edge of the brake lever. This gives you more leverage, a finer degree of control, and less chance of your arms becoming fatigued on long rough descents where you're covering the brakes.0
-
Yeah what yeehaa said, i started running my brakes really far in and learnt to one finger brake about a year or so ago. Felt strange at first but I wouldn't go back. A little tip - if you do decide to do that, you may want to run your shifters on the inside of the brake levers, that's what i do.0

What size seatclamp are you looking for? I've got a KCNC blingy red seatclamp as well as matching bar ends i'd be willing to post over to ya for like 15 or so. Neither of them fit on my new bike, and better sold to someone who needs them than to be sitting around in a shoebox.
edited to include size. The size of the seatclamp has 31.8 listed on it.

Not sure the clamp would fit dude. I had a look at mine and it says 35 on it. The 34.9 Hope one I have on order fits cool as I tried a blue one in the shop.
The bar ends look rather tempting, how do they fix into the bar and how much would you want for them? I could maybe do you a swap for sommat if you fancy. For a nice bit of bling I'll throw my lass into the deal, she makes a mean coffee in the morning.0 -

Nice. You can pop off the shift indicator and replace with the supplied blank. The. Swap the gears and brakes around. Like this.

Gotcha, may have a tweak around on my day off, if the occasion ever arises at the moment. Still, it keeps a roof over my head and the bike bling rolling in. 8)0 -
Hey man I would take 10 or so shipped for the bar ends. They plug into the ends of the bar, and there is a nut inside you tighten which expands some small silver plates inside the bars until they are tight. Do you know if your bars are single or double wall thick? May be a bit of a toss up if they fit or not depending on thickness of bars. Maybe someone else with the same bars can chime in?
I would take something in return, but dont think youd want to deal with shipping to austria which is where i live. You could ship to my parents house in cambridge i guess though and they could forward it to me. Ill take either a new wheelset, maybe some new brakes or sarbon seatpost for the barends. Only joking what small bits have you got to offer?0 -
This is the spec for the bars.
Handlebars XC low rise, 6061 butted alloy, 660mm wide, 8 degree back sweep, 6 degree up
Any ideas whether they would fit or not?0 -

yep, that is so true.0 -
The Crankbrothers Split Skewers are also very good. I went to tighten up a Mavic Skewer as tight as I do the CB and cracked it first time!
PS. Some nice touches to your Special Ed there OP0 -

I can't tell anything from those details there, but there's gotta be someomne who knows their stuff for that. I'm quite shit with telling which parts fit and which don't haha.0 -

Meh! For the small amount u want let's just arrange payment. How do you wanna do this? I don't really wanna post parts to Austria or send to your folks as I want you to be happy with the transaction.
Let me know.0 -

And £5 a set from my LBS. Don't use anything else - just ignore the weight though!
Lovely looking bike (just came here from your brake thread).
Bar ends will probably be fine, its the carbon ones that normally cause a problem. Suck em an see.0 -

Mate, i'm really sorry. I had no idea you had posted this reply until now, and unfortunately sold the bar ends already. Once again sorry man.0 -
It's cool mate no big deal I treated myself to some Hope bar ends anyway. I kinda thought you were busy. Cheers for the reply though.0
