Hi,
I have a Scott aspect 45 2010 model and I think I have Suntour XCR 100mm shocks.
Does anybody know a really good shock upgrade choice for under £200.
plus whats the maximum and minimum travel shock I can go for.
Was just about to buy the mmmbop Ragley bike but I think I might upgrade this first as the cost of building a bike from scratch was massive.
Thinkiing of also taking my front chainring down to a single from 3, would this be easy?
Any help would be well appreciated
Thanks
Steven

Stick with 100mm forks. For £200, I don't think you'll get anything much better than the Suntour ones unless you find something that's heavily reduced.
Converting to a single chainring is pretty easy if you have a chainset with a removable spider (the bit of the crank that bolts to the chainrings).0 -
You can go upto 120mm of travel. I would look at the new Recon Gold series from Merlin, or a Tora 318 air if yoiu can still get one.
Yes you can use one ring but need a way of keeping the chain on like a chain device.0 -
Re: forks i'd go for Reba's - 100mm of travel and reduced from £450 to £240 ish at Merlin and On One if they still have any left.
If you end up buying a Ragley that can take from 100-150mm fork. It would be worth considering what fork you want in the future as you don't want to buy a 100mm fork now and then decide you want an mmmbop with a 150mm fork  .
Having said that, anything more than 100mm fork on your curent rig would probably screw the geometry...0
