I like many things in life that may or may not be 'right'
Doesn't mean if i had narrower bars the bike wouldn't be/feel improved.Salsa Spearfish 29er

They're wider than I'd run, but it really is personal, no one can really tell you if the bike will feel better with a narrower bar.0

I have just switched to 580mm flats, I find anything over 650 fatigues me on a long run. But it depends on what kind of XC you do. I ride mainly XC/AM and narrow bars might be an issue on DH, that I have to live with.
20 miles or so wont make much of a difference, but on a 30+ it will be less than ideal.
I bought my EA70 flats for 20 quid, so am going to give them a go for a couple of weeks, even if I subsequently change for 685mm and cut down.0 -
lets not think too much about fashion.
I run 710mm bars on my bikes, Id not want to go any narrower no matter what i was riding.
Im very broad in the shoulders, so narrow bars make me feel like im too bit for the bike.
Use what you feel is right.0 -
As above. I am tall, wide and heavy and even with 760 mm bars I find myself riding with my hands on the end of the grips.
680 mm bars feel like I'm holding a chopstick.0 -
I am running 620mm, but as above is purely personal.0
-
I just tried fitting the 620's which came with the first Super4frame... DAMN i don't like them.
Tried setting the grips to about 710,690, 700 and still actually preferred the 730 setting.
Have moved the shifter and brake in slightly though as my thumb knuckle wasalmost touching on mytest rides.

No one here is able to answer this question for you.
They are YOUR bars on YOUR bike that YOU ride."Time you enjoy wasting, is not a waste of time"

OF course, but as above there are perspectives, averages, normals, abnormals etc. Once you work out what is the above... then you can guage if what you have is completely wrong.
e.g The consensus could have been ">700 is ridiculous" same as "<500 is silly" etc etc. Unless you have a little idea it's tough to knowSalsa Spearfish 29er

Just for XC?
I would like some 700s just to ride to work on.
I find wider bars more comfertable.0 -
weeksy59 It doesn't matter how wide they are, as long as they're the right colour

I must admit, I like leading people with really wide bars down the wee bit of singletrack I built with the narrow trees You need to do the trackstand/lunge thing to get through some of them with 680mm so when someone turned up on a wednesday ride with 760mm Nickels turned up I couldn't resistUncompromising extremist0
