  • reduces swelling, improves circulation by compressing the muscle.... its meant to help you recover faster, similar to the use of ice baths.

it does work, but your off the shelf nike stuff aint upto much, you got to spend a lot to get the proper gear...
FCN: 5/6 Fixed Gear (quite rapid) in normal clothes and clips :D

There's some well documented research to say that compression clothing aids recovery. Fair enough. If the makers offered a 60 day trial, with a money back guarantee I'd probably give it a try.

Does it work during excercise? - Yes! I was passed in the early stages of a 10K run at the end of last season by a bloke wearing some stupid 2XU calf guards. I was not going to be beaten by him! So I went flat out to ensure I got to the line first, setting a 10k PB. So yes, they make you faster :D

I'm sorry if they work during a race why aren't the pro-peleton wearing them after day after day in the saddle, when you'd probably need them most??? IMO they're the latest fad purchase of multi-sports competitors.

And, 'Yes' you do look a complete tool turning up to training sessions wearing your compression socks/calfguards/tights under your shorts with flip-flops (sorry I've been building that up for quite some time now).
“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”
  • Why not just buy your regular kit a few sizes too small :D
  • most of the pros do wear them after cycling, especially on grand tours.
  • use them for recovery and there mega

  • +1 on mega, i was a cynic to begin with, but they really do work for me (calf guards and skins recovery tights).

"Flight socks" from boots have the same effect though, for like £4.99, so best to start there... And, as mentioned above, there are some serious fashion crimes to be avoided....
