I need to upgrade my Rs Tora coils due to being pants. Are the Recon Silver on the new Rockhoppers much better than the Tora coils. Thanks
I don't mind what they say... as long as they say its enormous

In what way do you find it pants?
the tora is a good solid little fork, you probably need the right spring and you can perk them up immeasurably with the better internals.0 -
Toras and Recons are virtually identical internally. The biggest difference is that the Recon has aluminium stanchions but performance-wise there's very little difference.0
-
you'll find no difference with the silver tk recons. i have a pair and they're possibly a bit poorer performing than my old toras0
-
like for like comparison of recon coil u-turn vs tora coil u-turn and i'd take the recons every time, feel nicer and are lighter. but that's not what you're comparing.0

I find the spring very stiff and I am 151/2 stone. Unfortunately as i have v brakes finding a decent air fork that has v brake bosses is difficult.I don't mind what they say... as long as they say its enormous0

get the correct spring for your weight (contact tf tuned) and possibly get a MoCo cartridge for it, then they'll be the same as the recons only with steel stanchions rather than alu0
-
Recon silver are the same as older toras.
I agree, a spring change will sort them, and psooibly a strip and service.0 -
Be aware though that some Tora's need the Recon replacement spring with the long steel tube attached to the bottom of the spring and the travel adjuster (which u prob wont use) at the top.
Unless TFT have removed it they used to have a tora spring option and it must have been for an older model which i purchased without realising and had to return it and get the recon spring.0 -

are you talking about the spring in the recon silver tk? if so i'm 14 stone and find mine slightly too soft. i changed my standard spring in my pikes to a firm one.0 -
No, the spring in the Tora's. I have a set of manitou axels and the spring is just right.I don't mind what they say... as long as they say its enormous0

ah right. did you buy the toras new cos i think most come with a regular spring which would probably be soft for you?
the toras are good forks, maybe you could have them serviced and the spring changed?
tftuned are very good,0 -
Thanks, might as well get them serviced.I don't mind what they say... as long as they say its enormous0
