Hybrid over-haul help

Depends, some hybrids have road bike parts, some others MTB. What exactly needs doing? Easy things are done with allen key, anything trickier will require special bottom bracket/cassette tool, spanners, chain whip, chainset removal tools etc. I would recommend applying copper grease to things like the thread on pedals, using anti-seize compound on seat post, bottom bracket threads and around BB and inside BB tubing etc. Gear/brake changes are easy just need pliers, wire cutters (good pair that'll cut steel cable cleanly) and brake adjustment. Gear adjustment bit more harder but easy once you understand (front and rear end stops, indexing)Say... That's a nice bike..

I always used MTB parts and didn't have any problems.
If you're unsure you may be best going to an LBS to make sure that everything will work together. You can then always take the bike to them for advice if you're stuck. They should be more than happy with this especially if you buy some of the more specialist tools from them.2010 Trek 1.5 Road - swissstop green, conti GP4000S

Books. Sheldon Brown and Park Tools. Teach yourself. If you have a well worn hybrid - nothing replaced for years and perhaps the chain skips on the chain rings - then: change chains rings (plenty of cheap triples around), rear cassette and chain. Only ditch the mechs if not working. Ditto cables. Change bottom bracket if you know there's a problem and it is knocking (usually something else, however). Remove wheel bearings, replace and regrease. Do all this yourself and you are well on the way to cope with anything.0
