Can you identify this Bottom Bracket
Can anyone help me with this. I need to know to so I can get the BB tool to fit it to remove it. If it is any help, it has 8 indents around the outside visible part and is on a bike fitted with a Shimano 105 groupset (few years old) so it may well be a shimano cup.

Looks like an octalink BB. I am looking to change mine for a newer cup bottom bracket and chainset. Not sure of the compatibility issues though...0

Darn all these different types of BB :evil:Say... That's a nice bike..

Looks like a hex or an open key for the cup and a standard lockring spanner needed for the lockring.
The right end of this spanner should do the trick (the other end might fit too):

its an octalink bottom bracket and you need a splined bottom bracket removal tool to get it out, the notches are not for removal or installationdont only ride a bike0

If it's an Octalink BB (why don't posters clean the parts before taking pictures?) you need either a Shimano splined removal tool (which you probably will need for the drive side) or the standard lockring removal tool as illustrated in my previous post. The notches are for removal or adjustment (Shimano don't put them there for nothing). You will see a clean BB in this picture:

Thanks for all the help, I promise to clean my bike before taking any more photos of it.0
