Tub glue remover?

I use tape but i left the residue on the rim to add to the stickiness. As far as I can remember people leave the old stuff on and add fresh glue on top but I may be wrong and someone is going to shoot me down.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

Acetone, you can buy it from chemists I think, or from ebay.0

If it's not too patchy just glue over the top.0

Acetone
+1. I was told to buy acetone too. I bought 250ml of "100% Pure Acetone" for £2.99. It's commonly used for removing nail polish when diluted with water, or artificial nail tips and glue when undiluted. Head for places that sell cosmetics, salon supplies etc..0 -
Cheers everybody! Thanks for your help.0

Do NOT buy nail polish remover!...
It contains conditioning agents, etc, that will remain on the rim.
Acetone is becoming more difficult to get now. Plenty on ebay, I bought some from Superdrug.
I bought a 2nd hand tub, so wanted to remove all the old cement so I knew I had a good base to start.
I didn't know who's cement was on the tub, either, and didn't want to mix it!...
Have fun centring the new tub!....
After all the grief I went through, I was relieved to come out of my first RAB turn without the tub rolling off.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Acetone's fine on the rims, but I'd be very wary of using it on the tub itself. It'll damage the tyre sidewalls and soak into the basetape and damage the bond between tape and tyre.0
