Hi All,

Any suggestions for a FS bike for £1000, top of my list is the Boardman FS Team £999 seems a good spec for the money, other option was the Carrera Banshee XXX for about the same money but read the frame was a bit on the heavy side.

The Team is an excellent bike and shares the same frame as the Pro.

The spec is way ahead of anything except unsold bikes that have been sitting in warehouses for two or three years.

    Buy in confidence.

If only this forum had a sticky which answers this question!
Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?

Boardman Team, Voodoo Canzo, whichever Giant Anthem costs a grand.

Spesh FSRxc about a grand as well.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
  • Hi,

Thanks for the advise I have narrowed it down to:

The Boardman Team FS vs The KHS XC-604

The KHS got a good review in one of the mags recently, but they are both 5* bikes for the money in mag tests.

The KHS is a bit lardy at 13.5kg and the relatively unknown front fork would worry me if something went wrong. It works well on test though.

    Hard choice. Both excellent bikes.

Why the 604 when the 555 is in budget ??

Anyway both good bikes...and the Manitou (ignore the above as they have been making quality forks for 20 years and are big in the States) is easily as good as the RS..it has platform, rebound and preload adjustability..and they retail about the same

Try to get a ride on them both... which will be a challenge as Halfords don't let you, and KHS are online only aren't they? Maybe go to your local trail centre and beg a ride?

They do have a demo centre at Afan if you near there..

  • Thanks for all the help, just brought my self a Boardman Team FS, collecting this week from Halfords Shrewsbury, vey good service and they got the bike in stock for me with in 3 days of ordering. I have read a few comments were people have had to wait weeks to get them and have had poor service, but cant fault Halfords Shrewbury on this occasion.
