Do I need more?
Just waiting for my cayo 105 to turn up and was just thinking whether its worth buying new wheels straight off so I can sell the sevens as brand new.
Wont really spend more than £200 though so prob wont be worth it anyway :D

  • Lew Racing Pro VT-1? ;-)
    Say... That's a nice bike..
Trax T700 with Lew Racing Pro VT-1 ;-)
  • yea right.
Just thinking If I sold the 7's for £100 it make sense, even just to upgrade to 5's
  • I wouldn't bother. use em until they're knackered and upgrade.

  • prob right as the 7's have blue detail to go with the bike and the 5's would be standard red
    .
    Mavic Ksyrium Equipe maybe?
  • I was twiddling the hubs on some Fulcrum 5s & 7s at shop just last weekend. The wheels were new so no bedding in yet. The 5s felt a lot better than the 7s.

BUT with some minor wrench twiddling you can fix that - I had some R500s for many 000s of KMs with cone and cup bearing that I spent a lot of time maintaining, by km 1000 the bearings were really nice. I upgraded the bearing with some German SKF ones from a motorcycle shop near my house and they were really nice. Not Dura Ace nice but much better than what you'd expect from £65 wheels.

Keep the 7s and ride them into the ground with anger. They'll probably frustrate you with their resiliance. I tried to kill these R500s and couldn't, eventually sold them, they were great!
    When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.
  • If you are absolutely insistent upon buying new wheels now and can afford to do so, it would make sense for you to sell the Fulcrums on ebay (other providers are available) as an unused item, and discount whatever you get from any resultant sale against the cost of your new hoops. If you aren't in a position to buy upgrades now, it would probably make more sense to ride them to death. Selling them after a few months would obv attract a lower (re)sale value and doesn't seem make economic sense.

  • I did a very scientific test over the summer - 30 laps of a one hour course keeping my heart rate constant using my winter bike (mavik aksiums) and my summer bike (fulcrum racing 1's). Guess which was quickest - the mavik aksiums by 1 second. Don't waste your money - its all hype. Providing the wheels are half decent it wont make any difference.
