OK, so I appreciate that clothes sizing is in some way reflective of the market demographic, and that top end cyclists are hardly renowned for their massive guts and moobs.
BUT!
Why - oh WHY - do the clothes manufacturers seem to think that everyone who cycles has the same physique as Contador? Is it somehow verboten to have a chest size greater than 35"???
The result? People like me end up with a jacket that fits fine around the chest, but is far, far too long in both the arms and zip length, and MAHOOSIVE around the waist. This displeases me muchly.
THATISALL

Are there any brand which perhaps cater for the bigger man? It always grates me when i see a pair of shorts or trousers in a Medium which have a waist of 32"-34". FFS, i've not been a 32" waist since i was about 12 and i'm not particularly fat, just broad and tall0

Heh!
Exactly!
Although it's more insulting when a 34" waist that is described as "LARGE"."A gentleman who goes by the name Upgrayedd. Which he spells thusly, with two D's, as he says, "for a double dose of this pimping."0 -
If anyone doubts this try on Castelli kit...I'm usually a M but can barely fit into their XL kit!
Why oh why???!0 -
Oh I don't know, the manufacturers don't always get the sizing wrong. Here's me wearing medium:

Castelli sizing is particularly small - it's designed to be more figure-hugging than most as well. I'm a large in most almost all the jerseys I have, but for castelli I had to go for the XL (despite me having the 40" chest that Castelli's sizing chart says is a large), and that's still smaller than most of my other large jerseys.
Campagnolo aren't as bad as Castelli, but they're still a little on the small size. Collars tend to be a tad tight. I think they assume that every cyclists has bony climbers' arms.0 -
Cannondale clothing which is aimed for the USA market has an oversize bias (for some strange reason) I can assure you.
My XL track top is exactly that - Xtra large... I ordered unthinkingly like I was ordering Santini... still it will do as a recreational article of clothing, too big to wear on the bike.
As it was 1/2 price , I kept, as the supplier didnt have any other sizes.... but lesson learnt.0
