Cateye Strada Fitting

Just fitting my new Cateye Strada computer and I have a question.

The instructions say to fit the sensor on the riders side of the right hand fork.
Fitting it this way could lead to it getting caught in the spokes if it moved a bit towards the wheel.
Would it not be better to fit it on the left hand fork facing away.

Any comments welcome.

Andy.

Hi Andy, there have been a few theads on this one recently. Some have questioned the actual hazard, some have vociferously warned about it although no one appears to have started a "I went tits up over the handlebars today because..." thread.

I originally fitted my Cateye on the back of the right fork and then moved it to the front of the left having been swayed by the logic. I managed to get up to "45mph" on a descent earlier today so I prefer to avoid any wheel issues, theoretical or not :)
  • use mine on the left no problems at all
    Trek Madone 4.5
  • also got mine fitted on front left fork, facing away.
  • Update.

Decided not to fit it on the right and have put it on the left fork facing away.
Been on a 60 miler today and it has worked fine.

    Thanks for the input.

    Andy. :)
