Specialized Allez Comp 2010 or Spesh Secteur Elite 2011

I bought a Trek 7.3FX last year, which has done a great job of getting me back into cycling. My plan is to now get my first road bike, but I'm wanting something "comfortable".

I like the styling of specialized bikes, and having seen the recent discounts on the 2010 bikes was tempted by the Allez Comp 2010 or Secteur Comp 2010. Crucially both are reduced to £999, which complies with the £1k limit of my employers cycle to work scheme.

However, none of the lbs are able to get the Secteur Comp 2010 any longer as it is sold out.
It is then that I noticed the 2011 Secteur Elite (£999), which now has SRAM Apex, and a much nicer paint job than the 2010 bikes.

Therefore, do I go with

1. Allez Comp 2010 - pros : lighter frame, carbon rear stays, £200 discount, cons : dull paint job

2. Secteur Elite 2011 - pros : SRAM Apex, nice paint job, cons : slightly heavier, no discount

My head says Allez, my heart says Secteur. Is it wrong to choose a bike based on colour?!

Any advice?

I certainly wouldnt buy a yellow car!

The Allez Comp colour scheme isn't bad, it's just understated and nowhere as bling as the 2011 Secteur Elite.

Allez is "racier", Sectuer is more "sportive" (i.e. supposedly more comfortable)

I'd decided to buy the Allez Comp from my LBS - but checked eBay just before committing myself and ended up bidding on and winning a Spesh Tarmac Elite for £840. Its supposed to be brand new, so a decent price for a £1600 bike, and no faffing around with the C2W scheme.

I now need advice on whether to switch to SPD-SLs or stick with SPDs as fitted to my hybrid bike which in intend to keep. Time to start a new thread...

Wow - fab bike and a good price! Hope you got the right size rathwer than just bidding on a bike you liked othwerwise you will hava a great steed that is all wrong for you!!!

Dont worry, I tried a spesh allez in the same size at my LBS at the weekend - the allez is the same geometry as the tarmac.
