Shimano 105 RD with 8 speed indexed downtube shifter!
Ive chucked together some space parts on my winter bike & it doesnt seem to work right!
Ive got a last generation Shimano 105 RD (5600) and a R400 8 speed indexed downtube shifters.
The gear cable tension is pretty loose in the smallest Cog, but I can only get 3 or 4 gears - the cable ends up really really tight and I cant pulll any more without probably snapping hte cable.
Is this because the cable pull lenghts on the 105 RD are much smaller than the r400 indexing allows, or have i just got the setup wrong, in whch csae, what shoudl I look for?
Many thanks..
James

Checked the stop screws? Does the mech move the full width of the cassette if you move it by hand?I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
